Week 4 (Post Second Playtest)

After the second playtest of my prototype, that included additions inspired by Dean's prototype from the first week, it seemed to have gone well, and people understood and liked what I had done for it. However, I myself had been wondering as to how I could make the game more player interactive as my second prototype was mostly just dices rolling and hoping for the best. I wanted to think of a way to add more player intractability and strategy, this is ideally on top of our other system we have planned to make of a first-person close combat event that can also take place in the matches. I took inspiration from board games such as Root which I had picked up recently. I also thought I could make cool, funny cards that nicely compliment the games' whacky theme. For this week I came up with 6 cards, as well as a back to them and rules on how these cards are used. These rules may be subject to change based on player feedback from upcoming playtests.

The rules are as follows:

3 cards can be held

1 is drawn every inning on your turn

You can discard one card and draw another once every inning on your turn

Playing a card does not mean you draw another card unless specified on the card

Cards have an indicator colour on the bottom right as to when you can use it. Blue = defensive (your own turn), red = offensive (the opponent's turn), red and blue = both

You can see the card artwork I have done in the attached image.
