Week 3 - After the First Playtest and preparing for the Second one
The first playtest went fairly well, Most people I showed my project were a fan of my animations. I got some feedback that they were charming and funny so I am going to stick to the style I did for them. I think people were also impressed I made a console app that played them. I think most people also understood when the animations were going to play in the gameplay because of the code accompanying the animations too. While playtesting, I also tuned into Dean's paper prototype he made and was very impressed with the gameplay mechanics and ingenuity it featured. I quite liked how the swing and running mechanics worked in his paper prototype in a boardgame styled way with dice rolls and the like. For my second prototype I wanted to try and implement aspects of the way his paper prototype played into the console app I did for the first prototype. With some help from my partner I managed to mostly replicate the style of gameplay Dean had made. It was also made for 2 players so there was some challenge. I have yet to implement the frustration meter as that will not be very easy and plan to have it be one of the first things we figure out as a team when we start working as a team together in Unity.
